Health Benefits of a Nordic Spa
I had the pleasure of visiting the Scandinave Spa Mont-Tremblant a last weekend and it was an absolutely spectacular experience. Not only was the settling beautiful, the company of my best friend part of a perfect Sunday, but it also has tons of health benefits, and we all I know I love!
I have been to the Scandinave Spa in Mont-Tremblant before, I have however been to their location in Old Port several times for massages. They have a smaller version of the baths included in this Old Port of Montreal experience, but it is not the same as this outdoor moment of bliss you will experience up north!
When I visited it was a beautiful sunny day. Although cold, the stones are heated and there are outdoor fire pits on the grounds. You feel so cozy and relaxed the second you set food outside into the Scandinavian experience.
I bounced around from hot tubs and saunas to ice cold river water. It was great actually and felt so refreshing, knowing the health benefits helped ease my fear of the chilling temps as well. Ill do anything (cold or hot) if we have some wellness vibes!
They call it Hydrotherapy. It has benefits for the mind, body and soul! The tradition of these Nordic baths goes back thousands of years so there must be some truth to the euphoria around these baths. The circuit goes hot sauna (or hot tub), ice cold plunge and then relax. You repeat this 2-3 times at your own pace. I say own pace with emphasis because some of us (okay fine, yours truly!) totally passed out during the relax part in front of the outdoor fire pit... can you blame me
So what are the benefits:
Helps tone your skin (i was sold on this one!)
Flushes out toxins
Improves blood circulation
Releases endorphins
Stimulates the immune system
Its total bliss. The spa is tucked away in the mountains just outside of Mont Tremblant village. The setting is so serene and peaceful. It is an absolutely relaxation for the body and mind and I encourage anyone to check it out. It was the perfect way to end my weekend!
