Fit & Fatale for Summer
You girls have been messaging me about how much you’re LOVING all the #winegirlsummer content. I’ve also been getting lots of Qs on how you can still stick to your wellness goals while making the most of summer.
So here you have it… TRIED, TESTED & TRUE.
HERE ARE MY 10 PILLARS TO STAYING FIT & FATALE
**(while making the most out of a fun, free and wine filled summer!)
1️⃣ Drop the all or nothing mindset
Because you ate a pizza isn’t reason to skip your workout, and because you worked out isn’t reason to skip the wine. Let balance be your guiding light!
2️⃣ Hydration all day, everyday
Never. Skip. A. Day. I go for 1 Gallon of water a day, but the rule of thumb is add an extra glass of water per glass of coffee or wine, so no matter what your H2O intake is, keep that in mind.
3️⃣ Skip the high sugar, high alcohol drinks
I ask almost every time I order wine if they know the sugar content and alcohol content. You can usually find sugar content of wine on LCBO app or estimates on apps like Vivino, but everyone has access to the alcohol content on the bottle. My rule of thumb is to aim around 2-3g/L when it comes to wine, and hold to simple syrups, agave or other added flavours in mixed drinks.
4️⃣ Take you vitamins & supplements!
Don’t forget the key component to keeping your body running well, detoxing from toxins. Keeping your liver, skin and digestive tract happy are key here. My go to’s (pretty much all the time but especially after drinking) Digestive Bitters or Enzymes, CoQ10, Vitamin C, Glutathione and B12.
5️⃣ Plan your workouts in advance
Keep a consistent schedule and grab a summer buddy (in person or virtual!). I even plan which workout, the time and write myself a schedule before the week starts. I try to stick to around the same time each day, make it non-negotiable and pump up the summer music to get into the zone!
6️⃣ Keep space for your body and mind to rest when it’s needed
Make sure to sleep, however much you need, almost every night. (I’m an 8-9 hour girl!) Key is to not forget to let your mind rest too, through things like journaling and meditation. Check out @fatalemind for quick ways to find calm through 60 seconds of stillness vids or 10 minute meditations.
7️⃣ Focus on your skin
Our skin is sometimes the first thing to go when we start staying out late, drinking more alcohol and wearing makeup in the sun, not to mention masks thrown in there. If you know you’re prone to breakouts or dull skin from a night out, make your skincare a non-negotiable. Try a cleansing brush to get makeup and sweat out from your pores, bring face wipes with you on long walks (or even out shopping with the girls!). This is the season to opt for light products that are hydrating, brightening and water based. And don’t forget your SPF.
8️⃣Support local and while focusing on feeling good
Get back into doing safe & easy things that make you feel good. Think manicures, blowouts & facials this summer… and remember how good those little moments make you feel. Plus they also are easy ways to look fresh when living your busy OTG wine girl summer!
9️⃣ When you can, walk!
My rule of thumb, I lookup how far where I’m going is and if it’s under 30 mins I’ll walk. Plus sneaks are in no matter what you’re wearing so take full advantage Bb. Also shout out to “Hot Girl Walk” playlist from my girl Mid Linds.
