10 Travel Workout Essentials
I know it can be hard keeping up with a work out routine while traveling, especially if that travel lasts more than a week which mine often does. Prior to take off I sometimes get those pre travel jitters because I’ve been in such a tight and seamless routine, the idea of throwing that up in the air can scare me.
What I’ve learned is that that shake up often benefits my body, gets me out of my both my work out and eating habits in the best way. I don’t take the opportunity of travel to eat everything I want and completely lose sight of the bigger picture, but getting your body in a place where it can manage the on going changes of environment and nutrition is the best place to be if you want to be healthy and on the go.
After over two weeks away in Cali I put together this power list of all the thing that kept me going, motivated and on track while traveling. Besides the downer of coming back to winter, I’m feeling better than ever with where I stand in my nutrition and fitness routine, I couldn’t not share.
You’ve probably heard me talk about Class Pass before on IG, but this is my saving grace when traveling. It allows you to have 1 account with credits that you can use at so many local studios around the world. I hate having to set up a new account with each studio, but with CP I can just log on with my location settings and check out so many options around me. Check out the link here for a free trial!
2. New workout wear
It’s not exactly spring here yet but in California it certainly felt like it. Before I took off I ordered a few new activewear outfits to where I was staying. They were bright, springy and motivating. I felt like a superstar and it helped me so much to get my but moving because I was so excited to put them on. I have been loving Alala & Lovewave recently. Can’t get enough. You can also use the code THEFITFATALE on ALALA for 20% off full priced merch!
3. Bala Bangles
The ankle and wrist weights are everything. If you don’t know Bala Bangles they are the amazing ones used at Dance Body in NYC, where I first discovered them, but they completely change the weight game. They are stylish, but also comfortable for the first time pretty much ever. I wore these while doing my daily walks in Palm Springs or online workout videos.
4. Sunnies
I’ve been loving Diff Eyewear, Leia & My My My sunnies recently. I just find when I pair a chic sunglass look with my activewear either on the way to the gym, on my daily walk or during an outdoor workout I instantly feel more glam and that motivates me.
My mom got me this travel blender right before we left that gets charged up via a USB cord so you can take it anywhere. It has a little hook to attach so no matter where you go (like off the grid hiking or in Joshua Tree for a few days) it’s easy and portable. It’s also 18$, check it out here!
6. Sweat Cream
This stuff is pretty cool. Made from a coconut oil base, Sweet Sweat cream is designed to activate your sweat, open your pores and make sure you get the most out of your work out. I would suggest that if you’re using it in the sunshine, shower after your workout since it may clog more sensitive pores like those on your chest or fast. However, I used it all day to help with my tan on my legs and it totally worked!
7. Gliders
It’s a love hate relationship, but you can do a few workouts with these from anywhere and get an instant booty and thigh burn. There are so many glider videos on youtube to check out. Here is a glider set I love, obviously in pink!
8. At home work out videos
We know its all the craze, but I wanted to share some of my favourite’s while in Cali. I have been loving OBE for a while now which actually streams live classes all day long. Other than that I love the Dance Body online classes and recently got into Sami Clarke’s fitness videos on youtube which were my favourite for quick burns in the sun (try her Ten Minute Ab Workout HERE).
You can find these anywhere which is super convenient. If you forgot them up at the cottage or on a trip, just hit up a Walmart or Target for a pair. I love to grab a set like THESE that has various resistances for different workouts. Plus having multiple means you can drag in a friend or bf to your workout.
10. Track your travel in a diary
Finally I love to track my goals, both fitness and basically everything else. I think I might not be the only one because every brand is popping up with new fitness, wellness and goal tracking journals. Some of my faves are these cute one from Ban.do both wellness & travel and this planner/goal tracker from Lorna Jane.
