Fighting Winter Blues

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Sometimes it feels like everyone is really to kick that New Year’s butt all while you’re just trying to get out of bed... I get it. And I’ve felt that way and you’re not alone!!! Between being sick & then catching a mean case of the winter blues the past week... I know first hand it can totally kill your motivation to get up and hit the new year running.... or do pretty much anything! After some of my own experiences and research, I put together a list of some of my fave natural ways to fight those winter blues, depression and feels of anxiety you may be facing. Some of my tips here ⬇️ but feel free to share your own....

⭐️ Work out!!!! My ultimate saviour for everything. Sweating it out is always a good idea.

⭐️ Get out and do things, with friends, with your partner or even just alone. Check out movies and the museum! Anything to spark your motivation.

⭐️ Get some fresh air and sunlight, even if it’s just a walk on your lunch break!

⭐️ Invest in a Happy lamp - I got mine on amazon!

⭐️ Get your sleep 😴 I’m someone who knows I need at least 8 hours a night to function at optimal capability, make the right decisions and keep my emotions in check. Find what amount of sleep you need to function best.

⭐️ Find a routine to stay motivated, like my new one of Monday Spin&Yoga class and build off of it. It will force you up and out of bed.

⭐️ Set small goals. They will keep you present and mindful in your actions. Some of mine right now are to maximize podcast guests quality and content for you guys !

⭐️ Eat healthy whole foods. So many nutrition facts to keep in mind for all forms of depression but the key here is to eat whole foods that are in season and keep you feeling warm, full and energized. My fave this time of year, salmon and quinoa with a veggie side!

⭐️ Stick to an anti inflammatory diet. Something many of us don’t know is that inflammatory bodies are more prone to depression. Inflammation also allows disease and infection to grow in the body.

⭐️ Eat omega 3 fatty acid from things like salmon, avocado, olive oil! You can also take a supplement in your routine.

⭐️ Do something new you’ve never done, like paint, sign up for a lecture or try that new class at the gym.

⭐️ Meditate and practice mindfulness. So many great apps to help you learn how to meditate. Start small and work your way up! The key here is to remember, it’s not about controlling your emotions, it’s about not letting them control you.

⭐️ Try taking Gutathione which will help your body increase its antioxidants to fight stress.

⭐️ If it seems like none of these work, don’t be afraid to talk to a professional, maybe a love, life or health coach!

And of course, dress warm and stay cozy
